Temaze (Temazepam)
Temaze is used to treat sleeping problems or insomnia. It works by slowing activity in the central nervous system to produce a calming effect. Temazepam is used for a short period, preferably 2 weeks or less, to help with sleeping problems. It is primarily used for the short-term management of insomnia in adults, helping those who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. But it doesn’t address the reasons for sleeping problems. You must ensure you have at least 7 to 8 hours of available sleep time after taking it to avoid excessive morning groisiness.
It works as a central nervous system depressant, slowing down brain activity to induce calmness and sleep. Taken by mouth as a capsule about 30 minutes before bed. The typical adult dose is 10 mg to 30 mg taken about 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime. You should only take it if you can dedicate at least 7 to 8 hours to sleep before being active again. No matter which brand you are prescribed, temazepam works in the same way to treat sleep problems. Long-term use is discouraged as it can lead to physical dependence or addiction.
For most people, it is better to develop healthy sleep habits, and stick to them, than to use medicine long term. It can slow or stop breathing, especially when combined with opioids or alcohol. If you are thinking of stopping or lowering your dose, speak with your doctor. Stopping suddenly after long-term use can cause serious withdrawal symptoms, including seizures. Confusion, mood changes, and respiratory depression, especially when combined with alcohol or opioids. Suddenly stopping the medicine can cause side effects. Temaze and other sleeping pills can be useful in helping you fall asleep, but they do not address the cause of sleeping problems.
