Fluvoxamine (Luvox) an antidepressant medication that comes in a tablet form and treats obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is a mental health condition that causes unwanted repeated thoughts, or obsessions, and routines or repetitive behaviors (compulsions) related to these thoughts. This mental health condition causes you to have frequent unwanted thoughts that make you perform repetitive behaviors. Fluvoxamine may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider. The brand name of this medication is Luvox®.

Fluvoxamine is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. It works by increasing the amount of a natural chemical called serotonin in the brain. Fluvoxamine is available as Luvox and generic fluvoxamine in the following dosage forms that are taken by mouth.

Take this medication by mouth with a glass of water. Make sure that you discuss if you are using any of the following before taking fluvoxamine. Follow the directions on the prescription label. You can take this medication with or without food. Take your doses at regular intervals.
