Lexotan (Bromazepam)
Lexotan is used for the short-term symptomatic relief of severe anxiety, tension, and agitation. Contains the active ingredient bromazepam and belongs to a group of medicines called benzodiazepines. Which are thought to work by their action on brain chemicals. Treatment of emotional disturbances like acute tension and anxiety states. Anxiety or tension associated with the normal stress of everyday life usually does not require treatment with medicines. Continuous long-term use is not recommended unless advised by your doctor.
It works by enhancing the action of GABA, a calming chemical in the brain, to reduce neuronal excitability. The dose varies from person to person depending on age and the condition being treated. All medicines can have side effects. It should never be stopped abruptly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms like seizures or tremors. You may need medical treatment if you get some of the side effects. Bromazepam carries a high risk of physical and psychological dependence. The usual dose is between 6 to 12 mg daily.
